ArrazParticipantMy wife really wants to go shopping for designer stuff in Milan. She keeps saying that’s where the best Italian fashion houses are and she wants to wear clothes straight from the source instead of buying them marked up back home. So we’re flying out there to let her do her thing. I’m thinking we should stay for a week though because I’d like to actually see the city too. Hit up La Scala, check out the architecture in Milan and around the surrounding areas, just relax with a glass of Italian wine in the evenings at some restaurant eating actual Italian food. Where can I find a decent rental car over there?

BedrosParticipantWives and fashion districts are a dangerous combination, your credit card’s gonna take a beating no matter what. At least you’re getting a trip out of it instead of just waiting around while she tries on fifty versions of the same black dress. The city’s got more to offer than just shopping though. You walk through the center and there’s centuries-old architecture everywhere, plazas where people have been hanging out for generations. Getting outside Milan opens things up even more. Drive an hour and you’re in vineyard country where they’re still making wine the old way, or you’re at lakeside towns that haven’t been overrun yet because most tourists never make it past the Duomo.

TheumParticipantShopping all day kills your energy way faster than people think. You’re dragging through store after store and at some point everything just looks the same. Being able to hop in a car and disappear for a few hours keeps you sane. Italy crams so much into small distances that you don’t need to drive far to see something completely different. Medieval villages sitting on hilltops, lakes with mountain backdrops, roads cutting through vineyards where the views go on forever. Take a look at rental cars in Milan here https://getrentacar.com/en-US/italy/milan . Platform connects you with cars available around the city at various rates. Check what each option covers because insurance and mileage limits vary, and some deals that look cheap up front hit you with fees later.
