Does anyone else think the price gap between dealer and indie for Merc oil service is insane right now
Been sitting here with my morning coffee trying to wrap my head around why a basic service for my 2020 GLE 450 is quoted at almost triple the cost at the official center compared to what some of the smaller European specialists are asking and I’m honestly trying to figure out what I’m actually paying for aside from the fancy waiting lounge and the branded paper floor mat. I mean the oil itself is the same spec 229.51 Mobil or Shell stuff that anyone can order and the filter is a genuine part you can grab from the parts counter for barely anything, so where exactly is all that extra labor money going you know. I started poking around online forums and a few local groups looking for an Affordable Mercedes Oil Service Abu Dhabi and the recommendations are all over the place with some guys swearing by a guy in a tiny Mussaffah alleyway who does it for next to nothing and others saying stick to the dealer for resale value. My main worry is that going outside the dealer network somehow triggers some sort of red flag with the extended warranty or the service reminder refuses to reset properly because they didn’t have the right Star Diagnostic software version. Anyone else in the same boat juggling the urge to save a few hundred dirhams with the fear of messing up the electronic service history on a car that’s still under some coverage.
